Professional Goals

Long-term goals can be a great motivator for self-improvement.

They give us objectives that we can strive to achieve.

My first long term goal is to own and operate my very own licensed child care center. I have worked in early education for the past twenty two years under the vision and dreams of someone else.  I have seen the need in the community for quality child care. I plan to open the doors to Shontay’s Little Blessings Early Learning Center in the Fall of 2020.

My Second long term goal is to obtain a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education.  My desire is to be able to obtain as much knowledge in this professional field as I can so that I am able to be well versed in handle any and all situations that I come across with the knowledge of the children in mind.  In doing so I will be offering the parents the best quality program I can. Because I am a single parent that works full time, I would gain this degree by attending traditional college.

My third long term goal is to offer a parent support group for single mothers who are enrolled in college courses.   I had about five strong people in my corner that supported me through this journey, trust me without them I would not have been where I am today if not for my village of people God blessed my children and me with. It showed me just how vital and necessary a support group truly is to the success rate of single parent graduates.  You can not do it all by yourself. During this process I still had to be a parent, work a full time job working 50 hours a week at times, and live life on it's terms which made this process that much more challenging.  This parent support group will be a  non-profit community based group that will consist of providing transportation for children from their schools; provide hot nutritional meals, offer tutoring and homework assistances, and have flexible hours such as weekend care.  The vision of the group would be to empower single parents and to be that village that they need to be successful in archiving their goals of obtaining an higher education.
